Our office
Our officeOur office is in Tsukishima and we designed and built it ourselves. Visitors can see the workmanship directly — how the walls are trimmed, how the lighting is run, how the timber joints line up. It is all there to look at.

Philosophy

Light LIGHT
We start by reading the sun's path across the site: deep eaves, lattices, trees. Deciding the shape of a shadow is deciding the rhythm of a day. This page works the same way: as you scroll, the sun rises and every shadow shortens.
Delivery DELIVERY
Fluent in Japan\u2019s approval and construction process. Design, filing, construction and site are handled by one team, so a scheme actually passes, gets built and delivered, with budget and schedule made clear.
Research RESEARCH
The character 研 means research. We verify light and air with sun studies and measurement rather than intuition, and assess the business case for renovation and investment.

Materials
Cedar SUGI
Brushed vertical slats. The sheen on this sample turns with the same sun as the page.
Concrete CONCRETE
Cast against cedar formwork, printing the grain into the grey.
Washi WASHI
Shoji paper that softens light and gives shadows depth.
Brass BRASS
Used only where hands touch; it grows warmer with use.
